Dr. Milojević in British magazine Harperbazaar: "10 tips finding the right Botox clinic"

26. April 2018.

Since its invention, botox is the most popular aesthetic treatment. Considering its popularity, more and more clinics offer botox treatments, but before choosing the best Botox clinic, people trying it for the first time should consider a few questions. Dr. Nikola Milojevic has revealed 10 tips for selecting the best Botox clinic in the British Harper's Bazaar.

As the most popular aesthetic procedure in the world, more and more clinics are offering Botox treatments in the UK. Many of us may already have a firm favourite practitioner, however for someone new to Botox, deciding where to go can seem daunting. To aid you with your research we spoke to Dr Nick Milojevic, owner and clinical director of the Milo Clinic which specialises in aesthetic procedures and treatments. Here are the expert’s top tips to consider before booking Botox.

1. Do your own research first

To make sure that you are really ready for Botox, it may be best to really get to know the procedure that you are considering undergoing - perhaps watch YouTube videos on the procedures so you know what to expect, then when you go to visit clinics you will have a better knowledge of what they are offering.

2. Word of mouth

Sometimes it’s best to speak to friends, co-workers or even people online who have had similar Botox procedures, chances are they will be able to give you reliable, honest advice and tell you where they get their treatments done and whether they’d recommend them.

3. Only consider trained practitioners

Injecting Botox is an expert procedure and should be administered by a qualified and trained practitioner. You will want to research into the clinic to ensure the staff are all trained and have the papers to prove their qualifications.

4. Watch out for cowboy clinics

When finding a clinic, it is best to ensure that they are an established medical and cosmetic clinic. In recent years many non-medical clinics such as hairdressers and beauty salons have started to offer Botox, however most of these places are ill-equipped and are not ideal environments to perform surgical procedures. Yes they may offer the procedure for a fraction of the cost, but you may end up with a botch job and that is really not worth the saving.

5. Look into specialised clinics

Look for clinics and practitioners whose main focus is Botox and other aesthetic procedures, if the clinic also provides derma fillers, this is a strong indication that the clinic specialises in this area of cosmetic services.

6. Check your practitioner out

Check that the practitioner has registration with their relevant regulatory authority, which here in the UK will be the General Medical Council.

7. Make sure you’re covered

To ensure you are protected if something should go wrong, you will want to check that the practitioner has appropriate insurance cover.

8. Have a consultation

Some of the more reliable clinics will always offer pre-consultations to clients at an extra cost who are new to the procedures and want to gain more knowledge before undergoing the procedure. A good practice allows you to check out the clinic premises beforehand, this is also a great opportunity to ask the doctor any questions and let them know of any concerns you may have.

9. Read reviews

Once you have had a consultation it’s a good idea to perhaps look into reviews of the clinic as well as the brand of injectables used. Sometimes one bad review can sway your decision and may help you dodge a bullet.

10. Ensure they have a follow-up service

You may want to make sure that the clinic you choose offers a follow-up service rather than just leaving you in the dark after the procedure. If you are having Botox for the first time you will want to make sure you are getting the right result and that the doctor who administrated the procedure is available to discuss the treatment further.
